Physics Mod Pro V163 - Valkyrien Skies 2 Support (Beta)

I have been asked for Valkyrien Skies 2 support since the release of ocean physics and it is finally here! Beware that this support is still in beta and there are many bugs (cloths being messy, building in ocean waves in boat is tricky and a lot of other stuff) BUT I think it is still a great experience to build your own ships and travel the oceans. One important note is that if you want shaders + Valkyrien Skies you will need this version physics-mod-pro-v163-fabric-1.20.1_sodium_0.4.10.jar since Valkyrien Skies doesn't support the latest Sodium + Iris yet. In the video above I've used Sodium 0.4.10 and Iris 1.6.4. Other changes in this update are support for the Falling Leaves mod (finally leaves are dropping again) and another crash fix related to end portal blocks being destroyed. I would also like to add more white splashes for cruising in those ships in the future and maybe more sound effects but first I will wait for the Sodium 0.5 from Valkyrien Skies 2 to make everything a bit cleaner. Anyways have fun everyone!
UPDATE (a): Fixed oceans not working with Optifine. There is currently an issue that causes a crash with Forge 48.0.5 and higher. Please stick to Forge 48.0.4 until the issue is resolved on their end (the devs already know about it and are working on it)!

Physics Mod Pro V161 - Crash & Bug Fixes

Fixed a crash related to destroying ender portal blocks (the actual portal not the frames) and the ocean surface duplicating with water logged blocks. I've also tried some performance optimizations when using sodium (by utilizing their chunk occlusion culling) but as it turned out this increased the load for my specific case so I scrapped it again.

Back from Vacation - Soft Body Physics WIP & Sodium 0.5

I've just returned from a refreshing vacation and I'm excited to share an upcoming feature with you all! I've been delving into the world of soft body physics, beginning with a 2D custom physics engine designed with Minecraft in mind. By starting in 2D, I hope to tackle many challenges before transitioning to a 3D environment, which will undoubtedly introduce its own unique hurdles. I appreciate your patience as this is a long-term endeavor and might take much longer to finish. In the interim, I'm also looking into enhancing the minecart physics, potentially allowing them to sway gracefully on curves or exhibit dynamic movements on downward slopes. Exciting times ahead!
POST UPDATE: v157a now works with the latest Sodium 0.5.0 and Iris 1.6.5. Prior versions will crash the game!

Physics Mod Pro V156 - Rain Drop Ripples & Slow Motion/Fast Motion

This update introduces rain drop ripples, customizable ripple resolutions (especially useful to make the rain ripples better looking), slow/fast motion (to allow for cool test simulations without replay mod) and bug fixes. Have fun! :D

Physics Mod Pro V155 - Forge 1.20 Release

1.20 for Forge is finally finished. The changes from 1.19.4 to 1.20 were quite significant (details in the image above). Forge was tested with Oculus 1.6.4 and Rubidium 0.6.5. The GPU liquids are currently only in the fabric version since it doesn't integrate into any gameplay yet.

Physics Mod Pro V155 - Official 1.20 Release

Tomorrow is the official release date for Minecraft 1.20! V155 is currently tested with 1.20-rc1 but should work with the 1.20 release tomorrow as well. As always the Forge version will follow once Forge + Physics Mod is ported to it. I am not sure when the Forge team will finish their port to 1.20 but usually this happens within a few days of the release. The 1.20 Fabric version was tested with Iris 1.6.4 and Sodium 0.4.10. Have fun everybody!

Physics Mod Pro V154 - Liquid Physics V2

Liquid Physics V2 are here! It is currently only for cinematics and not integrated into gameplay so you can only spawn it via commands. You will need a Nvidia GPU + Windows or Linux. Enable "GPU Liquids" in the Liquids settings and check the commands with /liquids help. Liquids currently ignore lighting because fetching light data for 200k+ particles per update would destroy your framerate. I will work on a solution! Crashing with error 700 in the logs means you ran out of VRAM (GPU RAM). Iris + Sodium test versions for 1.20 shaders can be downloaded from the Iris discord.

Liquid Physics V2 Progress

As I've mentioned before I am currently working on liquid physics V2. The goal is to get those high detailed fluid simulations like in the Minecraft animation videos. The old algorithm for it basically created a 3D model from spheres in the world which was very limitting. It stopped working at around 1.000 spheres. To achieve high resolution quality it must work with up to 100.000 spheres or more. With the new method that should easily work now BUT the compatibility with shaders is much harder which will require a lot of additional work as well. The last and final step is the physics simulation itself. PhysX 4.1 (the physics engine I use) didn't support a real fluid simulation which meant I had to use spheres and crudely approximate fluid behaviour. This also meant that it lagged a lot with 5.000+ spheres in the world. PhysX 5.1 recently got released and as some of you are aware the physics mod version for Minecraft 1.20 uses PhysX 5.1. This version supports real fluid dynamics although the Java wrapper for it isn't done yet which will also take some time.
The goal of the liquid physics is to replace the entirety of water in Minecraft (only client side and with the help of the ocean physics). So basically small sources of water will have extreme high quality simulations and big bodies of water will use the ocean physics. However as a starting point I would like to only have the liquid physics as a sort of cinematic feature since the implementation into the vanilla Minecraft gameplay will be very complex as well.
The video above demonstrates the amount of spheres being rendered (7k+) without any use of fancy shaders (for now).

I was on a short vacation so I couldn't immediately update to the latest Iris + Sodium versions, sorry! Minecraft 1.19.3, 1.19.4 and 1.20 will require Iris 1.6.2 + Sodium 0.4.11 or higher now (Sodium 0.4.11 got removed temporarily so please use Pro V152 with older versions of Sodium). Also ported the physics mod to the latest snapshot!

Smoke Physics Information: Minecraft particles have to be enabled for it to work! The further away you are from smoke sources the less particles spawn. Temporal Anti-Aliasing (or TAA) can cause issues with the smoke so disabling it will eliminate some visual artifacts. Not all shaders are supported (best results that I've got are with BSL shaders).
Snow Physics Information: High render distances on slow CPUs might result in delayed snow tracks.

烟雾物理信息: Minecraft 粒子必须启用才能工作!离烟雾源越远,产生的粒子越少。时间抗锯齿(或 TAA)会导致烟雾出现问题,因此禁用它可以消除一些视觉伪影。并非所有着色器都支持(我使用 BSL 着色器得到的效果最好)。
